Tokyo James Wows at SA Menswear Week
British Nigerian menswear designer Tokyo James presented his Spring/Summer 2018 collection titled ‘African Cowboy’ at the just concluded South African Menswear Week #SAMWSS18.
Simplicity and edge is Tokyo James’ usual style as was evident in his latest collection. Employing colours like white, burgundy and grey in most of his pieces, James brought a new side to African masculinity with leather jackets complemented with pearls, pop art printed on blazers and deconstructed shirts. The silhouettes and volumes of the pieces were all very unique with some of the audiences going as far to call it wearable art.
