The Maker: New Contemporaries in Design & Photography

by NEWS
Following last year’s successful number of entries and portfolio presentations, the African Artists’ Foundation (AAF) has announced a call for entries to the 2014 edition of The Maker: New Contemporaries in Design & Photography.
This platform was established for emerging artists to present their portfolios through projections to a wide audience of galleries, curators, collectors, patrons, art critics, academics and the press. Each selected artist will be a recent graduate (5years) or final year student of Art, Design, Architecture, or any related or relevant course of study. Participants will have a maximum of 10 minutes to present their portfolios.
The emphasis on this year’s call is on sub-genres of design; furniture, product, graphic, fashion and architecture as well as seeking photographers that expand the notions and practices of contemporary photography being produced in Africa today. Applicants without an academic background who show strong conceptual depth will also be considered.
