SOCIAL MEDIA WEEK LAGOS 2018 DEBUTS AFRICANXT
One of the most anticipated events Social Media Week Lagos will once again converge the biggest names and players in the tech space. With an attendance of about 15,000 people in its last edition and a 454 million global online view, this 6th edition of Social Media Week Lagos, tagged “CLOSER” will run from February 26 to March 2, 2018. The venue of the event is The Landmark Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
This year’s edition boasts of an array of exciting features, one of which is the highly anticipated AfricaNXT. Scheduled to hold from Tuesday 27 to Thursday March 1,it seeks to provide enthusiasts with new opportunities and ideas to grow their businesses and their brands, through technology. AfricaNXT will have a designated space within the same venue; a purpose built pavilion to accommodate 2,000 participants who will engage in workshops, exhibitions and enlightening conversations centered around Africa. Virtually African A Pop Up VR Film Fest: This aims to push the boundaries and thinking around the African experience. It will feature the works of African filmmakers using virtual reality science to tell their stories and showcase how African artists are ingeniously collaborating to blend art and technology together.
Chop and Chat Small Bites Big Conversations: Chefs, food enthusiasts and cultural mavens will lead an intimate conversation on the future of food in Africa and the impact of the continent on global food culture. The chefs’ table is not left out as discussions will be on-going while the chefs give tips for better cooking. Pop up Africa will co-curate this segment.
AFRIKA21 SoundKlash: 12 DJ’s and producers from across the continent will come together to make the ultimate music mix tapes live at the NXT listening party. AFRIKA21 SoundKlash will also be available as a free digital download post AfricaNXT.
#africanxt Lit Lab: Mobile library meets ease, #africanxt lit lab is designed as a pop up literary experience to feature the works of Afrofuturists; foremost authors and poets.
