Salvador Sango Performs at Polly Alakija Studio
Polly Alakija and Ed Keazor will present Salvador Sango on May 13, 2017 at The Studio, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi. The event is an evening of live music, with opening act Lórchetre Banco Musique du Congo and led by Papa Tino Btangisa.
Salvador Sango is a Greek music innovator, composer and band leader. He is also known as Sotirios Papadopoulos. He has played in several rock bands and shared the stage with well know musicians including jazz and afrobeat legends Art Blakey and Fela Anikulapo-Kuti respectively. He has also had Jazz sessions at Muyiwa Majekodunmi’s Jazzville in Lagos, with virtuoso’s Femi Elias on bass, Dele Sosimi on keyboards and Eric Mann on drums.
Salvador Sango formed the band in 2005 and captured the Nigerian music scene by the growth of his musical journey, its uniqueness as well as professionalism, which had traversed rock and traditional jazz. The band’s brand became Papadopoulos guitar pyrotechnics, yoruba and spanish vocal delivery, backed up by his highly competent group of musicians. Salvador Sango went on to release two albums and performed at major concerts in Nigeria, including the Lagos Jazz Series, Felabration, Jazz Hole, The Calabar Jazz Festival and Muson.
