Nollywood Paris Film Festival 2017
From May 11 to 14, 2017, Okada Media will present the fifth edition of the Nollywood Paris Film Festival at Cinema l’Arlequin in Paris, France. It is a yearly film festival showcasing the best of the Nigerian film industry with the aim of finding a larger audience and a more sustainable distribution system for quality films. Nollywood Week Paris creates a stimulating platform for networking and dialogue between the Nigerian film professionals and their French counterparts. The schedule for the festival is as follows:
- May 11, 2017 – Opening night with 76′ by Izu Ojukwu, followed by a question and answer
- May 12 – Screenings of short films, three feature films
- May 13 – Focus on web series, screenings throughout the day
- May 14 – Screenings throughout the day followed by the closing night ceremony and the world’s Premiere of the film Catcher
The festival offers attendees a chance to discover a number of movies selected by a jury of professionals. Nigerian filmmakers are therefore encouraged to submit short films, feature films, animations and Nigerian television series for consideration.
The event begins with musical performances, seminars and workshops dedicated to the African cinema industry as a part of its line-up, and ends with the traditional presentation of the Nollywood Week People’s Choice award. The People’s Choice award is sponsored by Angénieux, a leading manufacturer of high quality optic cinema lens for broadcast and film industries.
The Five Nigerian movies nominated for the People’s Choice award include The Wedding Party, directed by Kemi Adetiba; 76, directed by Izu Ojukwu; Dinner, directed by Jay -Franklyn Jituboh; Gidi Blues and Green White Green, directed by Femi Odugbemi and Abba Makama.
The Nollywood Film Festival was conceived in 2013 and is organised by Okada Media.
