Laying Bare: Studio Process at Zeitz MOCAA

by NEWS
From December 19 to May 10, Zeitz MOCAA will present Laying Bare, a site-specific, process-based project by South African artist Kemang Wa Lehulere.
Wa Lehulere will take up occupation in a multi-gallery area on the institution’s second level for a period of six months, turning the museum into a studio space. The studio, usually a private working space, will be accessible to the public to observe and engage whilst the artist makes new works, conducts research, and develops ideas for future projects.
Working across media such as performance, sculpture, drawing and video, the artist will lay bare the essence of a thinking and making process – revealing inspirations, ways of working and a fascination with materials.
The studio will be supported by ongoing performances and activations, as part of an open process of exploration of germination, experimentation, and collaboration. These will be broadcasted on Zeitz MOCAA social media channels.
