Goddy Roodt: The Light Tank
99 Loop Gallery, Cape Town is pleased to present The Light Tank by Goddy Roodt running from
June 5 to July 16, 2019.
The Light Tank is Roodt’s multi-sensory installation experience which combines technology and art in its interplay of music and light. It was debuted in December 2017 at the Speakers-Corner in Church Square, Cape Town and will be exhibited for the first time with 99 Loop Gallery this year. As an artwork that in its core is truly an experience, it transfixes audiences with its playful and purposeful interaction of sound and light. It is one that is not to be missed.
Goddy Roodt is an interactive designer based in Cape Town. He studied at the Animation School, from which he graduated in 2012. Having made his first animation on Microsoft paint and movie-maker at the age of 13 it was no question that Roodt would find his way into the animation industry. After a short career as an extreme computer overclocker, his passion for creating films drew him towards founding Polycat Visual Effects, an animation studio based in the city. Devoted to the possibilities presented by digital media and present-day technology, Roodt also founded and directs Ultraware Computers. With his understanding of computer hardware, it created the perfect catalyst to effectively complete high detail and beautiful work without being limited by computer power.
