Cosmopolitanism/Lagos: The Last House on the Left

by NEWS
From September 16 to 30, 2017, Revolving Art Incubator, Lagos will present Cosmopolitanism/Lagos: The Last House on the Left, a solo exhibition of paintings by emerging Nigerian artist Babatunde Ogunlade.
The exhibition explores the notion of cosmopolitanism as Ogunlade explores the archetypes of modern living in the context of the 21st-century cosmopolitan city of Lagos, depicting notions of integration and coexistence in commerce, culture, lifestyle and rural/urban migration, re-examining the historical context of the term “Lagosian” through geometric abstraction.
Born in Lagos, Babatunde Ogunlade holds a National Diploma in General Art (N.D) Lagos State Polytechnic and a Higher National Diploma (HND) from Federal Polytechnic Auchi, Edo State. His academic experience and interactions with other artists have influenced his unique technique to painting.
He has participated in 3 solo exhibitions and several group shows locally as well as internationally including a residency at the Owiwi Galleria de Arte Afrikakna, Belo Horizonte, Brazil in 2013.
Babatunde Ogunlade lives and works in Lagos.
