Atomic Peace

by NEWS
Bag Factory Artists’ Studios presents Atomic Peace, a group exhibition of work by emerging South African artists namely, Bonolo Kavula, Lebohang Kganye, Malik Ntone Edjabe, Duduestang Lamola, Mmabatho Grace Mokalapa, Simphiwe Buthelezi, Sifiso Temba and Pebofatso Mokoena. Chumisa Ndakisa is the curator of the exhibition.
Atomic Peace discusses the meeting of spiritual unrest and mental disorder and explores the meanings of alternative healing and contemporary coping mechanisms. It reminds the viewer that their anxieties are their neighbour’s anxieties. The exhibition can be described as strangely familiar, consolingly jarring, intuitive and psychedelic.
The title of the exhibition borrows from Alice Coltrane’s song of the same title, Atomic Peace.
It runs until July 26, 2017.
