An Audacious Ankara Style
Remember the days when pattern on pattern was taboo? If you wished to don a patterned skirt, you would wear a plain top over it; if it was a patterned top you wanted to wear, you would select a plain pair of trousers or a skirt.
But one finds that with Ankara, the rules can be bent to achieve a bold and stunning look. To achieve the look, you select two different Ankara patterns and place them, one above the other. Different patterns, different colours, one look.
These outfits are great for both semi- casual affairs and their more formal counterparts and it is an altogether easy look to achieve; as long as you have a tailor who knows what he/she is doing. The style is fun and flirty and perfect for a day out and about under the Lagos sun. It is also certain to get you a second look wherever you go.
When wearing print and print, if you are not daring enough to choose bright pieces, makes sure at least one of the materials is bright. The beauty and audaciousness of the outfit is further illuminated by perky colors.
Not sure you can pull off two patterns? Why not try same pattern, different colours. This has almost the same effect as two different patterns but without the risk of clashing.
Not brave enough yet? Go crazy and add Ankara print shoes and/or an Ankara print bag. Those around you will be sure to remember you for the impudence of your look.
