Abba T Makama: Images from the Unconscious
Art Clip Africa, Lagos presents Images from the Unconscious, a solo exhibition of paintings by Nigerian filmmaker Abba T Makama (Dodorowski)
Born in Jos Plateau, Makama holds a degree in business management from the State University New York, Fredonia. He studied film at prestigious New York University (N.Y.U). He is the founder and creative director of OSIRIS and has worked with brands like Google, Hennessey, Blackberry and production houses like MTV Base, Chanel O, 37thstate and IBST. His short film Direc-Toh was screened at the Eko International Film Festival (2011), and at the Inshort Film Festival (sponsored by Geothe Institute) where it won Best Actor. His Party of Ministers was screened at Black Star Film festival (2012) Philadelphia, USA.
In May 2014, he was commissioned by AL JAZEERA to direct a documentary on the Nigeria Film Industry titled Nollywood (Something from Nothing) which was nominated for Best Documentary Film at 2016 AMAA (African Movie Academy Awards). His feature length film Green White Green was selected for the renowned 2016 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) as part of the city to city program (spotlight on Lagos). Green White Green has also been screened at the Stockholm International film (2016), African International Film Festival (AFRIFF), and at the 3rd edition of the Berlin Critics Week (2017).
