On October 20, The Auction Room will host its Contemporary Art from Africa & the Diaspora sales online at theauctionroom.com from 2pm UK time. The auction features fifty-two lots from a careful selection of well-known artists from Africa including Julien Sinzogan, Romuald Hazoumé, Bruce Onobrakpeya, Ephrem Solomon and Owusu-Ankomah, as well as African artists from the diaspora, including Chris Ofili, Sokari Douglas Camp, and Cullen Washington Jr.

London-based Ghanaian artist Lynette Yiadom-Boakye highlights this year’s sales with Cemetery, a 2010 oil on canvas, measuring 200 x 160 cm. The painting is estimated between £36,000 – £55,000.

The Contemporary Art from Africa & the Diaspora auction is part of the programmes of Africa-related arts events to be held by The Auction Room this October at Ely House, during Frieze week, and to coincide with 1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair.
